Protecting Trees from the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

The Emerald Ash Borer is an invasive beetle responsible for the destruction of millions of ash trees across the U.S.—including Illinois and Iowa. Understanding its life cycle is key to early detection and effective treatment.

The EAB Life Cycle:

  1. Eggs are laid on the bark of ash trees.
  2. Larvae hatch and burrow beneath the bark, feeding for 1–2 years.
  3. Pupation occurs, and adult beetles emerge by chewing D-shaped holes.
  4. Adults fly off to find new trees, restarting the cycle.

🪲 Early identification and professional intervention can save your ash trees. QC Arbor Care offers inspection and removal services to help manage EAB-infested trees safely and responsibly.
